Agmates

Merry Christmas

Channel 9 early news today reported Al Gore saying, "eat less meat". Gore went on to say in the very lengthy news item that he was not a vegetarian but was eating less meat.

People eating less meat equates to less demand for meat, less meat sold and less profit for many farmers. No matter how much less profit for farmers it may be enough to send many into even deeper financial difficulty, or off the land alltogether.

So how to retaliate to overcome this call that Gore has made and that Ch9 has openly broadcast on free to air television.

News has so much power, an absolute majority of people mostly believing what they hear on the news. And here again, farmers are the victims, blamed for causing damage to the GBR and now looked at as the people with animals causing CO2 and global warming.

I think the best way to overcome this 'eat less meat' news is to focus an Agmates push on Ch9 to now provide equal news time with information of substance toward establishing debate that Gore is wrong. Barnaby Joyce could challenge the Gore statement, especially if he was briefed of other causes of CO2 that Gore has not addressed, such as nutrient pollution algae anaerobic bacteria related methane vents in seabed.

If Ch9 will not be fair and honest by providing such equal time then Agmates could respond by making news type statements for people to consume less product advertised on Channel 9.

Channel 9 is boycotting the plight of Pacific Island people suffering increased malnutrition including anaemia linked to a recent 69% increase in maternal mortality. Ch 9 is boycotting innocent mothers and babied dying unnecessarily off or shores. Ch 9 is boycotting the plight of farmers including impact of unjustified accusation it is farmers damaging the GBR. Ch 9 is not reporting true debate about need or not for a CPRS and an ETS.

Ch9 is reporting one sided news and that situation needs to change. An Agmates promotion to watch less of Ch9 could also be an option.

Just found this:

Also call for equal space in Fox News.

He said on Ch 9 to eat less meat. He said, quote, "eat less meat".

It is just totally outrageous that the power of so much major media can be used to propagate such propaganda and lies.

Hi John CF, boo to Ch 9 but the other commercial channels are probably just as bad with their unbalanced focus on anything to promote global warming alarmism. Ch 7 Sunrise is a shocker and I've often responded by sending them an email calling for balance by interviewing Bob Carter or Ian Plimer, with nil result. Why leave out Aunty as well, they are all guilty but Bro Al complained to them about vision of steam rising from power station stacks and they seem to not be doing that so much.
Maybe if particular instances such as the one you mention on Ch 9 were singled out and a lot of emails generated thru Agmates, we might see a result.

It is very hypocritical for Al Gore to push the "eat the less meat" barrow.
He is known for his love of large Texas steaks. It was reported in The Tennessean along with his enormous consumption of energy. (I can remember at the time thinking - 'have a heart attack you b-----.)

But you just add that to the list of "Do as I Say, Not as I Do" from Mr Gore.
From the Wall Street Journal - archive:
"Whose Ox is Gored"

The end statement looks like a good title for a campaign on ETS/CPRS and Copenhagen.

"Are You Ready to Change the Way You Live?"

The Americans use boycott as a method to make a point - maybe a boycott of products and services advertised by the Nine network, and letters to the advertisers, to inform them of the reasons why.

Gore had a wonderful free ride on Lateline last night, too. He really is a piece of work! But the whole program was a nightmare, for any who yearn for a bit of balance.

Hi Alan M.
I could only take a little bit of Lateline last night. The idea of seeing the Gore promote his new book revolted me.
Went over to the other channel and watch something more realistic "11th Hour"

Judith agreed with me - said she didn't want me swearing at the television LOL

Hi Deb,
Spot on about importing beef from the other side of the world -
Remember the "Food Miles" campaign that was waged by environmentalists in the UK fairly recently.
It created large headaches for NZ primary producers, as their imports into the UK result in a large amount of foreign income.

Just Luv your little red devil concept LOL

Just recently I have come across the carbon cost of producing and processing soy burgers, and yes it's higher than meat. IF I can find it , I'll post it.
