Jeez Guys,

I hope all Agmates sign up to this petition, these politicians are going out on a limb for the country.

If you read the PM's speech to the Lowy Institute, you'd see the dissenting politicians need backing up, to counter the PM's god like approach to the climate and Copenhagen.

Thanks Shayne, for placing this link in the Forum. I keep thinking everyone's a member of the Climate Sceptics Group.

Jeff

Thanks Shayne and jeff, I used Shane's link and signed the petition. Maybe I'm the only one in step, but at this stage I don't have a strong urge to join groups.

Here's a post I just added to John C F's long-running forum, which might be of interest here, on a national conference here in Melb next Tuesday: 'The Economic Consequences of Climate Change Policy'.
Cheers alan m
...... Thought Agmates might be interested in the speakers and topics at the right-of -centre IPA's (Institute of Public Affairs') conference here in Melb next Tues.

I was invited, but I told CEO John Roskam that the price (even though I could get the $160 members rate as a 'good friend' I am sure) was a bit heady, for 'non - corporates'. Here is his nice reply:
'Hello Alan
Thank you for your support - we'll be taping the conference and will have it up on the web - so please rest assured you won't be missing a thing!
Kind regards John'.

Here's the speakers, and their topics:
CONFERENCE PROGRAMME:

8:15 - 8:45 Registration

8:45 - 9:15 Introduction
Terry McCrann
Herald Sun
Politics, Business, and the Handling of the Economics of Climate Change

9:15 - 10:00 Session One
Dr Alan Moran
Director, Deregulation Unit, Institute of Public Affairs
Lower Emission Levels and Australian Energy Impacts

10:00 - 10:45
Dr Richard Tol (by video link)
Member, UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change
How much emission reduction would be justified?

10:45 -11:15 Morning Tea

11:15 - 12:00 Session Two
Dr Brian Fisher
Former Head, Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics
Economic Growth; Energy, and Climate Change

12:00 - 12:45
Dr Alex Robson
Australian National University
Transnational and Regional Impacts of Measures to Abate CO2 Emissions

12:45 - 1:45 Lunch
Lord Christopher Monckton (by video link)
Climate Change Commentator
Carbon Mitigation Policies: Costs, Benefits and Effectiveness

1:45 - 2:15 Session Three
Alan Oxley
Chairman, Australian APEC Study Centre, RMIT University
Realities, Politics and Practicalities of a Global Climate Change Agreement

2:45 - 3:15 Concluding Session
John Roskam
Executive Director, Insitute of Public Affairs
Risks and Opportunities of the Climate Change Policy

3:15 - 3:30 Afternoon Tea

Wouldn't it be excellent to be there, and hear a real open discussion amongst experts? At least as John says, those interested will be able to read it on the web.
Cheers alan m

G'day Shayne,

Thanks for posting the link to Cory's petition. I've clicked through and signed it and encourage all Agmates members to do so and come back here and post that they have done it.

Shayne can I ask you to edit you post and put the link in as an embeded link. That will make it open in a separate window. As it is now when you complete the petition you can't use the back button to get back to this post.

By embeded I mean like this - Click Here

Let me know if you don't know how to do that.

Now Lads, just behave yourselves! :) ( you got that right Shayne -tic - lol - Jeff my mate i know where you live now ,,,,,,ROTFLMHO!!)

Yep, i like you two are passionate about Australia, and there is no way in hell i would agree to this toilet document, to me that is "fighting words" if it got signed.

Do you know that it is 20 years since the Berlin wall came down - now there is a timely reminder huh?

Just heard on SBS that they are not hopeful of it being signed, in fact that it will be some time off before a satisfactory document can be agreed on ~ well hello - we all could have told the "powers that be " that!

I wish we knew how many had signed it? I wonder if Steve could alert people on the site to it in an email, that way they know it is here - just so important.

Cheers Cate

Yeah I've signed Cory's and Barnaby's and any other petitions out there I've come across in the last couple of months too.

You see he has also personally attacked the few mainstream journalists who have spoken out against his crazy scheme. If you dyed his silver hair black with an accompanying hint of a mo, he could do a good impersonation of another megalomanic who was big on thought control too.
