Merry Christmas

After much lightening & thunder last night I went out to measure the rainfall this morning – 3.5 mm including a fishing frog. Now tell me how much water does a fishing frog displace & how much does it absorb? This perplexing problem must be encountered many times across this wide brown land on the few occasions it does rain.

Now you hear of many weird & wonderful research projects being funded by the Government. Surely this is a problem of national significance that should gain funding. I could volunteer to head this project, after the collection of many fishing frogs we will be set to immerse these amphibians & measure the water fluctuation. But wait water is in short supply, a valuable life source. We must substitute water with something much more common, beer comes readily to mind. From our couple of million of research grant, a pallet of beer could be purchased. Measure out 10 mm for each experiment; can’t have stale beer for the next frog, so it will have to be drunk. Do I have any volunteers to help?

A suitable location would have to be found for these experiments. A cool spot at a 5 star resort beside the swimming pool & the beach down below. Hey what are we going to do with all these frogs post testing? Maybe we can get a second grant to evaluate the suitability of beer soaked frogs for fishing

Maybe we will need help to save us from ourselves – beer, beach, water, boats…...

GET OFF THAT COMPUTER!!
Yes dear, right away, coming…………

Well one can only dream. What am I going to put down on my rainfall chart, 3.5mm minus fishing frog?
What are you writing down on your rainfall chart out of this rain change?

Last night it was our turn with the wind Thunder and Rain -16mm at house-no fishing frogs. Went for a ride 5kms to east and a frog got the lot-nil. All heading about 20kms to the west to set up at a yard to crutch and spray a mob of ewes and lms later so fingures crossed.

Very muggy right now. Dale count me in on the frog-beer research project as it sounds a bit more appealing than the smart end of an old ewe and a handpiece!

Yesterday afternoon, 28th Nov, a bit of a rough storm came in & measured 23mm .

Biggest fall of rain here since June. It is very dry here & this fall of less than a inch will only give the grass a little hope for the future.

LMAO,
I have often chucked out a frog from the rain gauge and tried to estimate the volume taken up by the frog, perhaps wringing it out would help? I used to come outside and find one of my mares rubbing her backside on the post that hosts the rain gauge, so then does one write down 5mm rain plus 3mm horse sweat and dirt?
We are finally getting a wet season and we went from nothing to three rains of about 3inches each. I finally have green feed and as luck would have it a lightening strike burnt out the back country which means fresh green feed straight up.
thanks for the laugh!
