What to do with a "spare" 48 million dollars in NSW

It's just amazes me, how when the state (NSW) is in financial trouble, hospitals are being cut back, infrastructure such as roads and bridges are rundown and in some cases dangerous. The Pacific Hwy upgrade to double lane is 10 years behind , with people dying on the roads because of black spots.

And the state can find 48 million dollars to purchase more National Park space.
The Ides of March struck Nathan R. in December, but I bet the National Park still went through.

I must remember the mant… Continue

Rising CO2 and Peak Oil

Has anyone ever questioned the importance of rising CO2 and the Peak Oil stories we are being handed out ?
From an article on the latest Super Liner - "Oasis of the Seas" - in the Sunday Telegraph 15/11/09, I went to old faithful "Wikipedia" to have a browse.

It was a bit of an eye opener. Besides the opulence and grandeur, the specification on the power and propulsion system are enormous.
The power system… Continue

Alan Jones

From not being a great Alan Jones fan, I find that since he's been back from health problems, he's come back with some fire in his belly.
Whether this fire is for the good of the country or just his perceptions and leanings of Anti- Labor, remains to be seen. His interviews today (Wed 30/9/09) covered ETS and particularly Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme (CPRS) and followed on with an interview with Kevin Linberg about the Heiner Affair (Klimate Kevvie's Shreddergate), legal implications and ho… Continue

ETS/CPRS Voting Query.

Does any Agmate member know which way Lower House members voted in the passage of the ETS/CPRS bill in the Lower House recently? I mean on an individual basis, I realise that the legislation passed the Lower House, and now has to go to the Senate - September?

I have looked at Hansard, last time it was in draft and not complete, and also as there are various sections in this legislation, it is quite involved (convoluted?). Possibly if this information has been put out into the public arena, it w… Continue

Al Gore gets it Wrong Again

A line that the ex VP spins about Climate Change dissenters "being like persons that believe that the Moon Landings where played out on a movie set in Arizona" is proven wrong again.

Now N.A.S.A. Dr Buzz Aldrin (Doctorate of Science in Astronautics - M.I.T.)
the second man to walk on the Moon - from the Apollo 11- landing 20/7/1969 has come out and declared he is a Man Made Climate Change dissenter, on 3/7/09
- And you don't make the statement that Buzz Aldrin is a liar about the Moon landing -… Continue

I left it go durning our efforts to stop the CPRS but I'm now trying to stir it into life. Do you mind checking it out & throwing in your 10 cents worth.

Cheers,
Dale

G'day Jeff

No worries mate,

if you want to copy and paste any info from your comment - just let me know and I'll turn it back on and let you get it, then turn it back off again when you finished. Just leyt me know if you do want anything off there.

I'll tell Malcolm the same if and when he responds.

I'm beginning to think that comment walls on groups are OK for small groups, but once the members get up a bit - the wall comment facility should be turned off.

No drama mate - Cheers.

G'day Jeff,

Just wanted to let you know that the comments section of Barnaby's Group site has been turned off. You have been having a discussion there with Malcolm that has generated 5 emails to all 141 members members of Barnaby's group - which I've just had a number of plaints about. Malcolm should have posted it as a discussion topic. that way every member gets just one email alert. From then on only the people that enter the discussion get a follow up email.

When you post something to a group wall every member gets an email. This can be extremely annoying when your not interested in whats being discussed and turn on your email to find - 5 10 -20 emails on something you have no interest in.

Cheers Agmates Moderator - Steve

Hi Jeff,
I believe that extremist groups have no thought to an opposing view of their own. Sadly, there is no reasoning with many members of an extremist group and that is what makes dialogue with legitimate facts impossible. They have little logic!

Thanks Jeff, I feel our positions have some similarities. I too have a (modest!) business and organisational profile here in Melb. And I prefer to be alan m (or alan mikk), and not to hang out my full name. Must find out how to effect the change. Cheers, alan
