Thanks for posting this and good on you for asking if it is correct - ITS not.

Whilst the amount quoted for our pensioners is correct and i wholeheartedly agree - Its Not Enough - the amount quote for an illegal immigrant is a total nonsense.

Think about it - If you are an illegal immigrant living in Australia - you'd be receiving nothing - because you are hear illegally - the last person on earth you'd want to know that you are here is the government. All of the illegal immigrants the government does know of are in a detention camps awaiting to be scrutinized to see if they qualify for "refugee status".

You get paid nothing whilst you are in a detention centre. If a person does obtain refugee status and is allow to stay - they then enter the community and then qualify for our social security system - no more than any Australian Citizen qualifies for.

Many many people are getting these emails. These emails are spread by anti immigration proponents - and they feed on peoples ignorance.

At Agmates we like to deal with facts and its good that you have brought this up so the facts can be told.
